Replacement Windows for Southeast Michigan Homes

Full-Frame Installation, Finished Down to the Trim
Replacement windows do more than refresh how a home looks. They rebuild the opening itself, and how that work is done shapes the final result. Tailor Made Windows installs replacement windows throughout Southeast Michigan, and our specialty is full-frame replacement: a job that starts at the studs and ends with finished trim, all handled by one team.

What Full-Frame Replacement Includes
Full-frame replacement removes the old frame, sill, and exterior trim completely, then builds the opening back up with the new window, proper jamb extensions, and finished interior and exterior trim. The finishing work happens in our Eastpointe shop. Custom fabrication, painting, and staining are done before and after installation, so you aren’t left coordinating a separate contractor to complete the job.
A full-frame replacement includes:
Frame Removal: Complete tear-out down to the rough framing
A New Window Unit: Custom-fit vinyl window sized to the opening
Jamb Extensions: Interior extensions cut and finished to match your wall depth
Trim and Casing: Interior and exterior trim work, with custom casing shapes available
Painting and Staining: Finishing applied in our shop
Full-frame is the right approach when your existing framing shows wear, when an opening needs a custom fit, or when you want the trim and finish work included rather than left for someone else. We’ll assess each opening and recommend the scope that best fits your home.
Featured Customer Review
Tailor Made installed a whole house North Star windows. The installation was excellent, thoroughly professional iworkmanship. The installers were careful, caught problems with damage on several windows. The damaged window frames were promptly replaced. We are pleased with the windows. Much better insulation than old metal windows. Liked additional foam insulation applied around the frames. Would highly recommend Tailor Made.

Window Styles and Options
We install casement, double-hung, slider, and awning windows throughout Southeast Michigan. Each window style suits different wall placements and ventilation needs:
Casement windows for crank-operated configurations
Double-hung windows for classic sash operation
Slider windows for horizontal operation
Nearly all the windows we install are vinyl. Vinyl holds up in Michigan's freeze-thaw climate without the maintenance demands of other materials. We work with three manufacturers, Sunrise Windows, Miter Windows, and Northstar, each with a strong track record in northern climates and consistent product availability.
Vinyl Windows
Vinyl is the primary material for every replacement window we install. It stays dimensionally stable through cold winters, doesn’t rot or warp, and holds a finish without ongoing upkeep.
Storm Windows
Storm windows add a secondary layer of protection over an existing window rather than replacing it. They are a practical option when the primary window is structurally sound but could use added weatherproofing. For homeowners who want better performance without full replacement, storm windows are worth considering.

The Tailor Made Fabrication and Installation Process
What separates our work from standard installation is everything that happens around the window. The process runs from your first consultation through a final walkthrough, with custom fabrication in between.
It starts with a consultation to assess openings, confirm measurements, and discuss style and finish options. Our Eastpointe shop then handles the custom fabrication: windows sized to your openings, trim cut to your wall depth, and custom casing profiles or painted finishes prepared ahead of installation. Installation follows, then a final walkthrough to confirm fit, operation, and finish quality.
Our fabrication process and installation process pages detail each phase. If you want to talk through a project before scheduling a formal estimate, call us or submit a request.

Tailor Made Windows has been a local, family-operated business since 1923. That history reflects long-standing supplier relationships, deep familiarity with the housing stock across Macomb, Oakland, and Wayne Counties, and a reputation built on getting work right.
Our in-house finishing shop is a key differentiator. Our manufacturer relationships give us access to product lines designed for northern climates, with customization options to fit homes that don't fit standard templates.

Common Questions About Replacement Windows in Southeast Michigan
An insert replacement, sometimes called a pocket install, sets a new window into the existing frame. Full-frame replacement removes everything, including the frame, sill, and exterior trim, down to the rough framing. Full-frame is the right choice when the existing frame shows rot or damage, when you want a custom-fit window, or when you want finished trim work included.
We work with Sunrise Windows, Miter Windows, and Northstar because they produce vinyl windows built for northern climates, and our relationships with them support better availability and consistent quality. Knowing your manufacturer matters when a window needs to be matched or serviced later.
Vinyl performs well in freeze-thaw climates. It doesn’t absorb moisture, expand and contract the way wood does, or require painting or sealing. Manufacturers that build for cold-weather markets engineer their vinyl systems accordingly, which shows in frame construction and thermal performance. Vinyl works on nearly every residential project we take on.
Storm windows add a second layer over your existing window rather than replacing it. They’re practical when the primary window is sound but needs added weatherproofing. Replacement windows swap out the entire unit. Both are available through Tailor Made, and the right choice depends on your window's condition and your goals

I called several other companies, but Tailor Made stood out. They are a local company to me and have a solid history. When they came to install the windows, the guys showed up on time and ready to work. They were clean and very fast! I would absolutely use them again!

Had them install my windows this past summer. Every person that came to my house was professional and friendly. The installers were very efficient and did a fantastic job. The windows look great and function perfectly. They slide smooth and are easy to remove from the inside when cleaning. My house had the original aluminum frame windows from 1969, they replaced them with zero issues for a fair price. I'll definitely be using them again for future projects. Highly recommend!
